Sage & Onion Stuffing

Get ahead of the game with this super simple sage and onion stuffing you can make in advance! This is technically suitable for all ages, but please be mindful that sausage meat is high in salt so be mindful of that when feeding weaning infants in particular.

Serves: 8-10

Prep: 10 mins

Cooking Time: 30-40 mins

Ready In: 40-50 mins

  • 500g Sausage Meat
  • 1 White Onion, diced
  • Handful Fresh Sage (1tbsp chopped)
  • 60g Breadcrumbs
  • ~1tbsp Olive Oil
  1. Gently fry the onion in the olive oil until soft (about 5-8 minutes). Leave to cool.
  2. Finely chop the sage then add to a large bowl with the cooled onion, sausage meat and breadcrumbs. Thoroughly mix all of the ingredients together with your hands.
  3. Put the stuffing into a lined 2lbs loaf tin. If you are making this in advance this is the point you would wrap it in cling film and pop in the freezer.
  4. Defrost the stuffing if necessary and when you are ready to cook bake in a preheated oven at 200C/180Fan/Gas 6 for 30-40 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool for ~5 minutes (I find this helps you slice it). Serve in slices.
