Empowering Future Generations through Healthy Eating

To quote a recent Ofsted report, I offer "popular Little Gannets cooking clubs" as well as hands-on cooking experiences in the classroom. My services not only help you, as a school, support the national curriculum in teaching children about healthy eating, but also help ignite a child's passion in cooking, and help them take that kitchen-confidence into later life!

My range of School Programmes help Primary School-aged children get engaged and interested in a healthy diet.

Not only are these programmes educational, but they are also interactive, allowing children to learn through play and sensory-based activities.

Did you know?
In 2018, only 18% of children aged 5 to 15 ate the recommended five or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day!

What We Offer

Our Programmes

Each Programme includes an interactive talk, a cooking activity for the children to complete and also some worksheets and/or further activities to help support and apply their learning.

There is also an option to include an educational session for parents on family nutrition after school hours. This aims to educate families on what a healthy plate looks like, and provide them with some realistic ideas and tips on how to achieve it. This is only available subject to terms and conditions.

The School Nutrition Programmes are:

Eat The Rainbow

In this programme, aimed at Reception and Key Stage 1, the children will get hands on with different fruits and vegetables, exploring their different colours and texture, as well as learning some fun facts about what they do for our body.

What Is A Balanced Diet?

This programme, aimed at late Key Stage 1/ early Keys Stage 2 (e.g. Year 2, 3 & 4) educates the children about the basics of a balanced diet. We will explore the concept that a  'healthy diet' is not just about eating our greens!

Seasonal Food

In this programme, aimed at key stage 2 (particularly years 5 & 6) children learn about seasonal and local produce. We look at what seasonal food is, what and why we import food, and we take a look at traditional British dishes.

Food Around The World

This programme takes a special look at different foods from around the world. This can be a taught as a stand-alone or 4 week package. It is an incredible way to explore and celebrate different cultures and traditions from inside the classroom.

These Programmes:
  • Promote a supportive environment where all children have an equal chance to explore food without feeling pressured.
  • Provide interactive activities to further a child's knowledge of basic nutrition.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle and diet so children understand why it is important.

All ingredients and basic cooking equipment* will be provided. Each child will have a small meal/large snack by the end of the session too which they can either enjoy during the school day or take home with them afterwards.
