Cheese & Chive Potato Gratin

Take your potatoes to the next level with this comforting potato gratin! This goes amazing with roast dinners as well as simple grilled meats, like chicken, lamb, pork chops, or even sausages. It is also suitable from 6 months upwards, so great for the whole family.

  • 600g Potatoes
  • 25g Unsalted Butter
  • 1tbsb Cornflour
  • 200ml Whole Milk
  • 3tbsp Creme Fraiche
  • 1tbsp Chopped Chives
  • 100g Cheddar
  • Black Pepper
  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/160C Fan/Gas 4. Peel and finely slice the potatoes and layer them into a heatproof oven dish.
  2. Now make a cheese sauce with the remaining ingredients. Firstly melt the butter in a saucepan, then add in the cornflour, stirring continuously. Cook the flour for a minute, then add in the milk slowly, continuing to stir. Add in the creme fraice and stir until the sauce is starting to thicken. Add in the chives, cheddar and black pepper and stir until melted and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  3. Pour the sauce over the potatoes, and cover the dish with foil. Bake for 50 minutes, then remove the foil and cook for a further 10 minutes so the sauce goes golden brown. Leave to stand a couple of minutes before serving.
