Hot Dog Car

Want to have some fun at lunch? Get your mini mechanics making these! This is a great way to get hands on with some salad ingredients in a fun way. You could also make some fruity traffic lights to go with it too (as pictured, but let's pretend they're not photographed upside down!).

Serves: 1

Prep: 5 Mins

Cooking Time: 20-30 Minutes

Ready In: 30 Mins

  • 1 Sausage
  • 1 Hotdog Bun
  • 4 Slices Cucumber
  • 2 Cherry Tomatoes, halved
  1. Cook your sausage per packets instructions.
  2. Put your hotdog sausage into the hotdog bun.
  3. Using cocktail sticks thread a slice of cucumber and tomato onto your hotdog bun to create wheels. I personally find this easier to do with 2 cocktail sticks (one front, one back) and allowing the child to thread the veggies onto either end, but if your hotdog bun is too wide then you may need a cocktail stick per corner.

Additional Information

Please remember that sausages can be a choking hazard for small children so you may wish to halve the sausage lengthways (or into quarters) before serving.
