Pizza Pinwheels

If you are looking for a great option for lunch that isn't a sandwich then look no further! This pizza pinwheel recipe is great for packed lunches, picnics and snack time- it is even suitable for baby-led weaning, win-win.

Makes: 12-15 Pinwheels

Ready In: 30 mins

  • 320g Ready Rolled Puff Pastry
  • ~2 tbsp Tomato Puree
  • 100g Cheddar, grated
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning or Oregano
  • 1 Egg
  • Optional: 100g Sliced Ham
  1. Preheat the oven to 220C/ 200C Fan/ Gas7 and line a baking tray with baking paper. Whisk up the egg and put to one side.
  2. Roll out the ready rolled puff pastry. Spread over some tomato puree to cover the whole base (you will need approximately 2 tbsp) then top with the grated cheddar (and ham if you are using it). Sprinkle over the Italian seasoning or oregano.
  3. Roll the pastry up into a tight spiral, rolling from the longest side. Cut into about 12-15 pieces and place onto a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper. Brush with the egg-wash and bake for about 20 minutes until golden-brown.

Additional Information

These are great for lunch on the go once your child is more adept to biting (pastry can stick to the roof of the mouth so it can cause gagging, especially early on!)

Ham is optional due to the salt content, but you may want to add this for older children.
