Smokey Tomato & Lentil Soup

This is super simple to throw together, cheap to make and a great, healthy option for the whole family. This recipe is suitable from 6 months+, but be warned- mess, messy everywhere!

  • 1 Onion
  • 1tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Garlic Clove
  • 400g Tin Chopped Tomatoes
  • 75g Red Split Lentils
  • 500ml Vegetable Stock (low salt)
  • 1tsp Smoked Paprika
  • Splash of Henderson's Relish (Use Worcestershire Sauce if you can't get this)
  1. Dice the onion and crush the garlic.
  2. In a large pan, sauté the onion and garlic clove in a little olive oil until soft.
  3. Add in the tin of tomatoes, red split lentils, vegetable stock (low salt), smoked paprika and a splash of Hendersons Relish.
  4. Bring to the boil then reduce to a simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with cracked black pepper.

Additional Information

I love this easy soup- you can blitz it till smooth if you prefer but one of the appeals to me is how simple it is to make so why add the extra step! My kids like adding a little cream to this too if you like.
